3 teachers booked under PSA

Srinagar, Oct 12: Police have booked three school teachers under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) after some of its students and teachers were found involved in militant activities.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told a press conference here in Srinagar that three teachers of a school, Sirajul Aloom, in Imam Sahib, Shopian in South Kashmir were arrested and booked under PSA for militant activities.
He said that the school is affiliated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that the school was under the observation and the trio has been arrested for their involvement in subversive activities.

The teachers who were booked under PSA include Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Abdul Ahad Bhat and Abdul Rouf Bhat.
The IGP said that another five to six school teachers are under surveillance and their conduct regarding their involvement in unlawful activities is being investigated
Sirajul Aloom School, came under the surveillance of intelligence agencies after 13 of its students joined militant ranks.
The institution’s students include Sajjad Bhat, an accused in the February 2019 suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama that left 40 personnel dead.
Police said that the school’s students mainly hailed from Kulgam, Pulwama and Anantnag districts of South Kashmir.
The list of the institute’s students involved in militancy started expanding with the death of Zubair Nengroo, a commander of Al-Badr.
Besides Bhat and Nengroo, the list of 13 alumni also includes Hizbul Mujahideen militant Nazim Nazir Dar and Aijaz Ahmad Paul who was gunned down by security forces in an encounter on August 4 in Shopian.
