POONCH, Dec 29: Within 24 hours, Poonch Police solved three cases of theft and arrested two main accused involved in the crime.
Yesterday, Police Station Poonch received three written complaints from shopkeepers regarding thefts in their shops. As per the complaints, during the intervening night of December 26-27, some unidentified thieves broke open shutters and stole away cash amounting to Rs 24000/- from the shop of Rohni Kumar son of Lakhsmi Das of Azad mohalla Poonch , cash of Rs 12000/- from the shop of Satish Kumar Phool, son of Chander Nath Phool of Ward No. 04 Poonch and cash of Rs 15000/- from the shop of Amit Kumar son of Mangat Ram of Degwar Poonch.
Two Shops are located in New Market near SK Bridge and third one in Azad Mohalla Poonch. There were some other items viz. cigarette packets , silver coins and some documents which were stolen.
Acting on the complaint, three separate FIRs were registered at PS Poonch and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, Police team with technical help and human intelligence rounded up suspects namely Zaheer Abass of Bella Colony Rajouri and Tariq Aziz of Jawahar Nagar from their rented accommodation at Azad Mohalla Poonch .
During the course of interrogation, both of them confessed their involvement in these theft cases. On their disclosure , Rs 8400/ cash , one silver coin, a small hammer and some other items were recovered from their rented accommodation. They further disclosed their involvement in many other theft cases in various other districts also .
Investigation is still going on and some more recoveries in theft cases are expected from them. The arrest and recovery were made by SHO PS Poonch Insp Ranjeet Singh Rao under the supervision of SSP Poonch Rohit Baskotra.
