3 thieves arrested, stolen property worth several lakhs recovered

JAMMU, July 28: Gangyal police under Operation Meghdoot arrested three thieves and recovered stolen property worth several lakhs from their possession.
As per police sources, on May 3 this year, a written complaint was lodged by Gurmukh Singh, son of Harbans Singh of Lower Jallo Chak with police station Gangyal stating that some unknown miscreants entered into his house during the intervening night of May 2 and 3 and decamped cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 36/17 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at Gangyal police station and hunt was launched to nab the thieves.
Based on some reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station picked up some suspected and during questioning three of them broke down and confessed that they had committed the theft.
All the three persons identified as Ram Kumar alias Ramu, son of Gopi Chand of Khordi tehsil Arnas district Reasi, Dervinder Singh, son of Bal Krishan of Kothi Bathiania, district Ramban and Mohammad Tariq, son of Mohammad Aslam of Katra Bhagta, district Reasi have been taken into custody.
On their disclosure, stolen property including Rs 3 lakh cash, 2 gold rings, 1 pair tops, 5 LEDs/LCDs, 1 laptop, 5 mobile phones, 2 cameras, one motorcycle and 2 gas cylinders were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali and Incharge Greater Kailash police post SI Vijay Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
