RAMNAGAR, Jan 2: Police today arrested three timber smugglers and recovered 12 green sleepers of Deodar as well as Pine Tree from their possession.
The timber was being smuggled in a load carrier, bearing registration number JK14H-8270, which was coming from Kella towards Ramnagar. It was intercepted by a Police patrolling party near Government High School Prey at Kella in the wee hours around 5 a.m.
The arrested accused were identified as Baldev Kumar, son of Guddu Ram, resident of Prey, Tehsil Ramnagar; Romesh Kumar son of Kaku Ram, resident of Ward number 1, Ramnagar and Vikas Dogra, son of Govind Ram, resident of Ward number 4, Ramnagar.
A case FIR number 01/2023, under section 379 IPC, 26 Forest Act has been registered in this connection.
