UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: The police today foiled major bovine smuggling attempts with the seizure of three trucks loaded with 38 bovine animals and arrest of seven bovine smugglers, in Chenani area during early hours today.
According to a police spokesman, based on a reliable information Chenani police led by SHO Chenani, Insp Paramjeet Singh laid naka near Chenani- Domail National Highway and intercepted one Canter/ truck bearing registration No JK02AA-7405 from which 10 bovine animals have been rescued.
The accused driver- Surjeet Kumar, son of Satpal of village Tanda in RS Pura, Jammu along with Mushthaq Ahmed, son of Gulab Din of Sunjwan, Jammu arrested.
A case FIR No. 116/2017 under Section 188 RPC 3 PCA Act was registered in this connection. Eighteen bovine animals were rescued from truck bearing No JK03F-1804. It was found that the truck was fitted with fake number plate. The actual registration number of the vehicle was found to be JK03F-5177. The vehicle was seized and its driver Mashooq Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Majid of Kilam in Kulgam arrested. His associates Noor Alam, son of Sabar Ali of Talwara Reasi, Mohd Suleiman, son of Noor Alam of Vijaypur Samba and Rais Ahmed, son of Gulam Nabi of Dooru have also been arrested. A case FIR No. 117/2017 u/s 465/468/ 471/188 RPC 3PCA Act stands registered against them.
The same police naka party seized yet another truck No JK04A-7154 loaded with ten bovine animals and arrested its driver Bilal Ahmed, son of Habib Shah of Chawalgam, Kulgam.
The operation was conducted by police under the supervision of SDPO Chennani, Chanderjit Singh, ASP Faisal Qureshi and SSP Udhampur, Rais Mohd Bhat.
