342 new positive cases in UT

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, June 26: Five persons died of COVID-19-four of them in Jammu region and one in Kashmir division while 342 others tested positive in the Union Territory.
Of four deaths in Jammu region, three were women. Two casualties were reported in Rajouri district and one each in Jammu and Ramban districts.
Two COVID fatalities in Rajouri district include a 45-year-old woman from Palma and 65-year-old female from Panjpeer. Both passed away in the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.
A 67-year-old woman from Durga Nagar in Jammu died of co-morbidities and COVID pneumonia at Narayana Hospital in Katra while 35-year-old man from Ghari in Ramban district breathed his last at District Hospital Ramban. He had no other ailment.
Four casualties have taken Jammu region’s Corona toll to 2091 including 1132 in Jammu district followed by Rajouri 219, Kathua 149, Udhampur 131, Samba 118, Doda 112, Poonch 88, Ramban 63 and Reasi and Kishtwar districts 42 each.
Out of 107 fresh COVID positive cases reported in Jammu region, highest 19 were recorded in Jammu district, 15 in Rajouri, 14 Poonch, 13 Kishtwar, 12 Ramban, 11 Jammu, 10 each Doda and Kathua, two Udhampur and one in Samba district.
As against 107 new cases, 375 persons today recovered from the virus, the maximum 231 in Doda district, 33 Jammu, 27 Rajouri, 17 Udhampur, 15 each Reasi and Kathua, 12 Poonch, nine Samba and eight each in Kishtwar and Ramban districts.
Jammu region now has 1,19,164 Corona cases. Among them, 2108 are active positives while 1,14,960 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2096 casualties.
Meanwhile, 17 persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh, nine of them in Leh and eight in Kargil district.
No casualties were reported in Ladakh today.
With fresh cases, Corona count in Ladakh has reached 19920 including 293 active positives, 19425 recoveries and 202 casualties—144 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 235 fresh cases of COVID-19 and one death.
Those who tested positive include 84 from Srinagar, 09 from Baramulla, 23 from Budgam, 29 from Pulwama, 18 from Kupwara, 24 from Anantnag, 14 from Bandipora, 18 from Ganderbal, 15 from Kulgam and one from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 69,690 positive cases including 824 deaths and 67,824 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,160 including 278 deaths and 22,456 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,469 including 21,847 recoveries and 203 deaths are from Budgam, 14,819 including 14,326 recoveries and 188 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,711 including 161 deaths and 13,176 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,981 including 15,446 recoveries and 198 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,246 cases including 8,959 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,539 including 9,268 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,991 including 10,656 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,546 including 5,472 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
With fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 195,152 including 189,430 recoveries and 2,200 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,630 including 3,522 from Kashmir division. With 864 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 304,390, which is 96.84 percent of the total cases.
