The delegations included students from Kashmir University, flood victims, Radio Kashmir employees, State Employees of SRO 202, Peace Front Kupwara, Khadi Gram Udyog Federation and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) migrants group.
The delegations’ members raised issues of basic facilities, resolution of Kashmir issue through peaceful means and lack of good governance in the State. Haneef Khan of Peace Front Kupwara told reporters that they congratulated Sharma for the steps that were taken by Government after his first visit.
“We had come to congratulate him over amnesty that has been announced for kids by Government. We had also come to meet him to convey that Kashmir issue should be resolved peacefully and with love and the killings should end. We have lots of hopes from his visit and ever since he came here, the situation has improved,” he said.
Officials said that Sharma is scheduled to visit Anantnag district today. However, there has been no word over his meeting with the Hurriyat leaders so far. The key trade, civil society and industrial bodies have also boycotted the Special Representative so far.
