Srinagar, Feb 16: In order to curb black marketing of essential commodities especially in winters, Sopore Police today seized 32 cooking gas cylinders without documents which were to be sold in black market by the hoarders at exorbitant rates.
A special police team squad under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Shabir Khan led by SHO Panzulla Tariq Ahmed laid a Nakka at Baramulla Watergam road near Tragpura Chowk after getting a specific information of transportation of gas cylinders.
At around 6:30 pm Police Party signaled the driver of the mini truck to stop but driver accelerated the speed and tried to flee.
Police party swiftly chased and stopped the truck bearing registration number JK05B/3311 and found 32 illegal gas cylinders without documents.
Driver of the truck Aashiq Hussain of village Dangiwacha and his accomplice Manzoor Ahmad of village Dangiwacha were arrested.
A case FIR No 11 u/s 3/8 Essential commodities Act has been registered at Police station Panzulla.
