UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: A total of 32 patients were operated during a 2-day free cataract surgical camp that concluded at KLSM Rotary Eye and ENT Hospital, here today.
The patients operated under this camp were examined and selected in the screening camp organized on March 24 at Gujroo (Nagrota) and Samba. The camp was organized to treat the poor people who had not been covered under Ayushman Bharat health scheme.
In the camp, 32 patients were operated for implantation of IOL with phaco emulsification surgery. The patients belong to Kathua, Samba and Udhampur districts of the State. Free surgery, lodging and boarding facilities were provided by the Hospital. The patients were operated by Dr Ankur Goel, Dr Sumeru Raina and their supporting team.
D N Sharma, Chairman of “The Udhampur Rotary Eye and General Welfare Foundation” and all other members promised that they are committed to continue such camps in the coming future to help poor patients in the restoration of their vision loss.
He also wondered how these most deserving patients were not covered under Ayushman Bharat health scheme of Central Government. He said Government should think for such people who really need help for their treatment. “KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital is always ready to help such poor patients, but financial shortage creates some hurdles for us to help such people,” he added.
