Srinagar, Apr 2: As those who arrived at Srinagar are completing their quarantine period almost every day, today more than 300 persons were sent home from Srinagar to different Valley districts.
These people were put into 14-day mandatory administrative quarantine by the district administration along with the technical support from the Health Department.
The officials overseeing the process, while giving the details told Excelsior that 324 persons were today sent home after they completed their period of quarantine.
“They belonged to different districts of Kashmir and had arrived here from various countries and as a precautionary measure and as per the protocol, they were put in the administrative quarantine,” Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Srinagar Syed Hanief Balkhi told Excelsior.
Out of 324 persons that were allowed to go home today, 140 belonged to Srinagar and rest belonged to areas falling in Budgam, Shopian, Kupwara, Sopore, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kulgam, Bandipora, Anantnag, and Tangmarg. Click here to watch video
Balkhi added that that the persons who underwent quarantine were cooperative and have played their part amid crisis. “They were all fine and will be now observed at their respective homes; we are happy that they are back with their families,” he said.
All these people underwent quarantine in six different facilities in Srinagar that were identified by the district administration and most of the students put up in these facilities completed their quarantine period on Thursday, while as the rest will complete the same in coming days.
In order to send them home, the district administration Srinagar had kept ready 8 SRTC busses as well as 5 cabs for the purpose, out of which 3 buses dropped off the students belonging to Srinagar.
As per the officials, all the persons in administrative quarantine in the district will complete their mandatory quarantine period by the end of this week and will be accordingly sent home. Currently, around 2000 people are undergoing administrative quarantine in various facilities in Srinagar.
Over the last two days, around 623 persons have been sent home after they completed their quarantine period. On March 31, 78 persons-who had arrived from Leh-were sent home, on April 1, 221 persons-mostly medical students who arrived from various countries-were sent home. All were said to be healthy and asymptomatic.
