UDHAMPUR, July 20: Continuing its war against the menace of drugs, Police today seized 33 kg of contraband poppy straw from a truck at Motor Shed naka, NHW Chenani.
The truck, bearing registration number PB10FF- 4835 was intercepted by a Police party of Police Station Chenani during a special naka at Motorshed. During checking, a tool box was detected inside the truck in which 33 kg of poppy straw was hidden.
Driver of the truck disclosed his identity as Najam Singh, son of Gurjant Singh of Bathinda, Punjab. He was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw as well as the truck were seized.
In this regard, a case FIR number 119/2022, under section 8/15, NDPS Act has been registered in PS Chenani and further investigation is underway.
The naka party was headed by SHO PS Chenani Insp Om Parkash under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi.
The overall drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
