34 bovine animals seized, 4 smugglers arrested

RAJOURI, Nov 17: The police seized four vehicles and rescued 34 bovine animals during nakas at different places in Rajouri last night and arrested four persons in this connection.
Official sources said that SHO Rajouri, Chaman Gorkha during police nakas under the supervision of SSP Rajouri, Rajeshwar Singh at Fatehpur, Muradpur, Salani bridge and Darhali Morh last night intercepted four Tata mobile vehicles bearing registration Nos JK01AM/8406, JK11A-0370, JK02AD-1672 and JK11A-1398 and seized 23 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir Valley via Mughal Road.
Three bovine smugglers were also arrested while some of them managed to escape taking cover of darkness. They were identified as Saraj Din, son of Abdul Amin, resident of Siot, Abdul Gafoor, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Lah and Mohd Bilal, son of Mohd Rzzak, resident of Gurdhan. The police registered four different FIRs in this connection.
SHO Kandi, SI Jahangir Ahmed during another naka last night, rescued 11 bovine animals and arrested one person in this connection. His associate managed to escape. They were on way to Shopian via Kandi- Budhal and Targi from Trerhu in Kalakote. The arrested smuggler was identified as Mohd Mushtaq, son of Chandi, resident of Lah.
A case FIR No. 88/2015 was registered at Kandi police Station against him.
