34 bovines seized, 2 smugglers held

UDHAMPUR, May 18: The police rescued 34 animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers while foiling smuggling bids in Chenani area today and arrested two persons and seized two trucks.
Official sources said that on the directions of SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, a police party from Chenani headed by Insp Om Parkash, SHO established a naka at Zero Point, Motorshed on the highway.
During naka, two vehicles carrying bovine animals (in contravention of the permission of the issuing authority), were intercepted and 34 bovine animals found loaded in these two trucks, bearing registration No. JK22A 4311 driven by driver Mohd Saleem, son of Mohd Farooq, resident of Krimchi, Dabrah, Udhampur and truck bearing registration No. JK02AQ 7781 driven by driver Altaf Mohd, son of Barkat Ali, resident of Krimchi, Udhampur). The cattle were rescued which were being carried towards Kashmir Valley.
Two FIRs bearing Nos. 78 & 79 of 2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation started.
