34 Haryaali projects sanctioned: Vikar

JAMMU, Feb 21: As many as 34 projects were sanctioned under Haryaali, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, through Agriculture, DRDA, Rural Development, Forest, Irrigation and Flood Control Department  in the State under which 7190 hectares of land has been covered by expending an amount of Rs. 44. 75 crore against sanctioned cost Rs. 96.42 crore.
This information was given by Minister of State for Power and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Vikar Rasool while replying to a question by Naresh Kumar Gupta in the Legislative Council today.
The minister informed that the Haryaali scheme was in operation  some three years back but now it has been closed by the Department of Land Resources, Union Ministry of Rural Development.
Mr. Vikar further informed that the protection Bunds on both sides of Neeru Nallah from Dradu to Bhalla in Bhaderwah for a length of 2320 mtrs stands completed by incurring an amount of Rs. 100.87 lakh, adding that Crate walls constructed at Panchayat Bhejja in Neru Nallah have been constructed by Irrigation Department for which the funds have been   provided by DRDA, Doda under IWDP Scheme.
The Minister further informed that Thanalla and Katyarra streams fall under Integrated Watershed Management Programme Batch-III for which Detailed Project Reports has already been prepared and submitted to the Union Government for approval. He informed that as per State perspective and Strategic Plan Shiva Project will also be taken up in future.
Replying to another question by Narboo Gialchan, Vikar Rasool informed that the CA&PD Department presently is getting ration quota from Government of India on the basis of projected population of year 2000. He said the department is providing food-grains to the BPL families at a fixed scale of 35 kgs per month on the basis of projected families of Census 2001. He said the uncovered families of BPL category would be covered as and when the Union Government increases the quota of food-grains by adopting figures of Census 2011.
The Minister further said that since the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA, 2013) has come into force from July, 2013; the Government has circulated a proforma for identification of eligible households, for inclusion and exclusion of households to be covered under NFSA, 2013.
