35 cft of illicit timber seized in Sheeri

Srinagar, Jan 15: The Forest Department today said to have seized 35cft of the illicit timber being transported in a truck at Sheeri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said that acting on the intelligence field staff of Baramulla Range, Boniyar Range and FPF Baramulla headed by Range Officer Baramulla, Rameez Raja seized one truck laden with fresh deodar logs of about 35cft at Sheeri Baramulla.
“It is a breakthrough which was witnessed in the territorial jurisdiction of Baramulla Range during the night hours,” the officials said.
The driver of the vehicle remains in custody and the preliminary investigation has identified the stump in Compartment number 27 in the Nowshera block. “Further investigation into the matter is going on,” officials said.
