36 bovine animals rescued, 7 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 16: Udhampur police rescued 34 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers who were transporting these animals to Kashmir in three vehicles.
Acting on reliably information, a Police party from Police Station Udhampur laid a surprise naka near Jakhani National Highway and intercepted three vehicles carrying bovine animals.
The vehicles, TATA 207 bearing registration number JK0AW-3421, two trucks bearing registration number JK02AB-5733 and JK02AQ-0586, were carrying 8, 11 and 15 animals, respectively.
Police rescued the animals and arrested drivers of the vehicles besides their two accomplices, identified as Khalid of Kazi Kund, Faruq Ahmed of Chanderkot, Nazir of Ramban, Mohd Anif of Belichrana Jammu and Abdul Rashid of Reasi.
In this connection, a case under section 188/RPC, 3 PCA has been registered in police station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, in other case, Arnas Police intercepted a vehicle at Kanthan Naka and rescued two bovine animals. Police also arrested the accused smugglers, identified as Rafkat Ali of Thuroo and Parvez Ahmed of Mahore.
