36 bovines being smuggled to Valley seized in Poonch, Rajouri

JAMMU, July 23: The police foiled several bovine smuggling bids and rescued 36 milch animals being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road in Poonch and Rajouri districts since last night.
Reports said Rajouri police foiled three separate bovine smuggling bids rescuing ten animals. Police party in Noweshera foiled two separate bovine smuggling bids and seized two vehicles used in the crime and apprehended four persons besides rescuing eight animals.
Police said during wee hours on Saturday, patrolling parties of Police Station Nowshera during checking frisking at Kulwant Chowk and Bareri area of Nowshera intercepted vehicles bearing Nos. JK 11 F- 4520 and JK11D- 1698 loaded with bovines and moving towards Mughal Road in Poonch.
Four persons namely Mohd Sohil, son of Mohd Sadiq; Imtayaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Munshi and Iqab Maqsood, son of Mohd Maqsood -all residents of Gurdan Pain, Rajouri and Mohd Israel, son of Mohd Sain, resident of Tain, Bhata, Qila Darhal were arrested.
The animals were tied with ropes in very cruel manner without food and water and there was no requisite permission with the driver.
Similarly alert police party at Potha Naka of Police Station Kalakote intercepted on Tata Mobile loaded with two bovines mercilessly with ropes and being carried towards Poonch.
In this connection, cognizance has been taken up and three formal cases under relevant Sections of Law have been registered at respective Police Stations of Sub-Division Nowshera.
Meanwhile, Poonch police rescued 26 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers while foiling bid of bovine smuggling in Surankote area.
Reports said police teams headed by SHO Surankote, I/C PP Behramgalla and I/C PP Poshana established nakas last night and during checking seized four vehicles bearing Reg. NOs. JK20 5057, JK02AB 6686, JK12B 0612 & JK02Q 1641 which were on the way towards Kashmir via Mughal Road. All the 26 cattle were rescued and four drivers arrested by police.
In this connection case FIRs 215, 216, 217 & 218 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Surankote and investigation taken up.
