36 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Sept 16: Udhampur Police today foiled a bovine smuggling bid under the jurisdiction of Police Station Majalta and rescued 36 bovines being transported illegally to Kashmir Valley.
The bovines were being transported in two vehicles bearing registration number MH46AF-4772 and HR38S-5582 when a team of Police Station Majalta headed by Inspector Rakesh Kumar (SHO Police Station Majalta) intercepted the vehicles at Battal checkpoint for routine checking purpose.
On physical checking of both the vehicles, the police team found 36 bovine animals loaded in both the vehicles without any valid permission. Thereafter, all 36 bovines were rescued and two bovine smugglers namely Gagan Chopra son of Gian Chand of Kathua and Mohd Arif son of Talib Hussain of Talwara (Reasi) were arrested on spot.
In this connection, two separate cases under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Majalta and further investigation of the cases started.
