UDHAMPUR, Mar 13: Udhampur Police today arrested two drug peddlers and seized 36kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled by the duo in an Indica car from Kashmir to Jammu.
The car, bearing registration number PB10DB-3977, was intercepted on the National Highway, near Jakheni by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur Inspector Mahesh Sharma under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Gourav Sharma and SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary.
During thorough search of the car, 36 Kg Poppy Straw (Bhuki) was recovered from the vehicle. The accused, namely Koshal Kumar and Yash Paul of Chand Nagari, Ludhiana, were arrested on the spot while the vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
