367 kanal forest land retrieved in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Dec 2: The Forest Department removed encroachment on nearly 367 kanal forest land in Kishtwar Forest division in last two days.
Giving details CCF Jammu, Roshan Jaggi, said that Forest Department teams under the supervision of DFO Kishtwar launched operations in Kishtwar, Nagseni and Paddar areas. 57 kanals of forest land was retrieved from encroachers at village Patnazi, Nali, Kither and Binoon located in Compartment No. 13, 15 and 16/K.
Another team cleared nearly 89 kanals of forest land at village Piyas, Sheri and Bronth falling in Compartment No. 1C, 20 A and 8A/N of Nagseni Range. Moreover, 221 kanals of land was retrieved from encroachers at village Garh, Hango-Haloti (Machail), falling in compartment No. 11a and 4b/P of Paddar area.
Mr Jaggi disclosed that a total 367 kanals of forest land encroached by 73 locals of these areas was retrieved and cases were registered against them under relevant Sections of J&K Forest Act by concerned Range Officers. He claimed that since March 2015 till date nearly 1344 kanals of forest land has been retrieved in Kishtwar Forest division alone.
