CHANDIGARH: Beaten by India in their previous game, the Pakistan cricket team arrived here today for their next
World Twenty20 match against New Zealand amid tight security.
Led by Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan team reached here in the afternoon after losing by six wickets to India last night in Kolkata.
Pakistan will play their next match on Tuesday.
Both the Chandigarh Police and Punjab Police officials said additional force had been deployed in and around the five-star hotel where the team will be staying, and the PCA stadium in Mohali.
“Tight security has been thrown around the hotel and its surrounding area. We are maintaining a strict vigil,” a Chandigarh police official said.
“We have put additional force on duty as part of making foolproof security arrangement,” Superintendent of Police (City), Mohali, Gagan Ajit Singh said.
The Kiwis had arrived here yesterday. (AGENCIES)
