JAMMU, Sept 22: Maintaining that people belonging to all religions across the country rejoiced the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A from Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today warned those elements who are linking the annulling of Article 370 with religion.
Addressing a public rally here today held in connection with celebration of 125th birth anniversary of former ruler of the State, Maharaja Hari Singh, Dr Jitendra Singh warned those who are trying to mislead the Muslims over Article 370 by linking the issue with their religion.
“The abrogation of Article 370 has nothing to do with any religion”, he asserted and added that its abrogation was made to give justice to all people of the State who were deprived of the same during last 66 years irrespective of their religious affiliations.

He said three generations of BJP struggled for abrogation of Article 370 to give justice to the people of the State and it was the goal of the BJP leadership the day the Bharatiya Jana Sang (BJS) founder president, Dr Shayama Prasad Mookherjee was not allowed to enter Kashmir and jailed at Lakhanpur in 1953 who later attained martyrdom during captivity in Srinagar.
While referring to oft repeated media questions who he said are anxious to know about the release of jailed leaders in the State, Dr Jitendra Singh said that they will be released less than 18 months -the duration when former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi jailed the BJP stalwarts like A B Vajpayee, L K Advani, Arun Jaitley and others during emergency.
He said these leaders are not in jails or under house arrest but they are house guests as they have been provided all comforts by the Government. “It were they who put Dr Mookherjee in 45 days solitary confinement depriving him of all facilities that resulted in his mysterious death in the jail,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said in comparison to that they are supplied brown bread for breakfast, Hollywood cassettes to watch movies and have been provided Gym for exercise. So they are enjoying life like any thing, he added.
While referring the struggle of BJP activists in last seven decades, he said that they are the workers whose three generations were subjected to lathicharge and harassment.
Dr Jitendra Singh turned tables on Kashmir centric politicians and said that those who were elected with 10 percent vote and reached Delhi are presently in problem with abrogation of Article 370.
“I had given a proposal that a criteria be fixed for vote percentage,” he added. Without naming former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, he said “Your three generations ruled with 10 percent vote and you managed to make your son as a Minister in Delhi and later you said that touching 370 and 35 -A would be playing with explosive”.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that common Kashmiri is now happy and these were the leaders of the Valley with vested interests who exploited them over the years. The Union Minister asked the people of State to wait for October 31 and they will get all facilities and benefits which are given to people of the rest of country.
Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur said that Narendra Modi has emerged as a great leader of world and Pakistan stands isolated in comity of nations over Kashmir issue while India’s prestige has increased manifold.
He said world is not paying any heed to Pakistan and it is with India on Kashmir issue.
While taking dig at opponents of abrogation of Article 370 and 35 -A, he said they are going to court of law to make J&K slave again. He said but this situation will not come again and “Those who enslaved us by incorporating Articles 370 and 35-A in Indian Constitution will not come to power again”.
Thakur said “abrogation of Article 370 has opened many ways for India as there is an unrest in PoK and not as a Minister but as an Indian I say with confidence the day is approaching when PoJK on which there is a joint Parliament resolution will be our part.”
Highlighting the Modi Government’s policies, he said after P V Narsimha Rao if there is any Prime Minister who took revolutionary steps in strengthening country’s economy, he is Narendra Modi.
He said recently Corporate Tax was reduced by the Government to encourage investment in the country. He said 15 percent rebate was given in IT and in Tourism Sector and GST rate was also reduced.
Thakur said that there are many more concessions in offing to boost economy. The Bank merger has been ordered and as per new policy the banking facility should be available within five kms.
Thakur assured the gathering that the rest demands of the people especially business community will be placed before the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
BJP national vice president, Shyam Jaju in his address said that BJP will liberate PoK and Aksai Chin. Lambasting those who were saying that if Modi takes four births still he can’t abrogate Article 370, he said abrogation of Article 370 did not happen overnight but it was the result of three generations struggle of BJP and people of the State particularly Jammu.
He said Home Minister, Amit Shah who also heads the party at national level framed a strategy for its abrogation and made a team assigning them nine separate departments. “It was done so secretly that one person did not know about the other department.”
Later the Parliamentary resolution for abrogation of Article 370 was first tabled in Rajya Sabha where BJP did not have the majority and then Lok Sabha, he said. People were saying what they will do in RS where they (BJP) didn’t have majority and party has only 94 members support in the House. “But against their expectations, we got 125 votes in RS also”.
He said every thing was done with great planning as BJP knew the value of vote after Vajpayee Government fell with one vote “so we did not took any chance.”
He said the abrogation of Article 370 was the dream of former Home Minister of India, Sardar Patel, former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee, and former Law Minister, Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He complimented the people for this achievement and recalled the role of Maharaja Hari Singh who rejected Pakistan and acceded to India.
BJP State president, Ravinder Raina said biggest fraud was done with people of the State by incorporating Articles 370 and 35 A in Indian Constitution after the accession of J&K was completed. This fraud was done by those who were at the helm of affairs at that time as they conspired to treat the State as their personal property. He said it was well hatched plan to distance the State from rest of India and rule it for fulfilling their vested interests.
He said in Round Table Conference, Maharaja Hari Singh made it clear that J&K wants to be part of India and Britshers should leave the country.
Raina said Valley based leaders challenged them to touch the controversial articles but Narendra Modi showed the guts and did what was in the larger interests of the nation as well as people of J&K.
Jugal Kishore Sharma MP, in his address, said that up to the morning of August 5 no one knew what is going to happen and it was only when they reached the Parliament and Amit Shah informed that Government is going to abrogate Articles 370 and 35 A which are a blot on us.
Bar Association president, Abhinav Sharma and BJP vice president, Narayan Singh also addressed the rally and rejected that it was Maharaja Hari Singh who had incorporated controversial articles. They said who make such statements are misleading people as Mahraja only brought State subject law to check the Britishers who were eying India in 1927. They demanded holiday on Maharaja’s birthday.
The rally was organized by the Jan Jagran Abhiyan Committee of BJP along with Jammu Bar Association and Civil Societies.
M P (RS) Shamsher Singh Manhas, BJP State vice presidents Pawan Khajuria, Rajiv Charak, MLC Ashok Khajuria, former Ministers, D K Manyal, Shyam Choudhary, C P Ganga, Priya Sethi, Shakti Parihar, Mahant Rameshwar Dass Ji, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma, MLCs Ch Vikram Randhawa and Ramesh Arora, ex MLAs Rajesh Gupta, Dr Krishan Lal, Rajiv Sharma, Mahila Morcha State president, Rajni Sethi, H S Pammi, Munish Sharma and others were present in the rally.
