JAMMU, Sept 19: Batote police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 39 cattle and arresting one person.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Batote intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK03A-8661 and JK2AS-8211.
During checking, police team rescued 39 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested one person, who was identified as Gogar Ahmed, son of Chokar Ahmed of Qazigund Kashmir. One of the accused fled from the spot and hunt has been launched to nab him.
Cases under FIR Numbers 59/2020 and 60/2020 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Ranjit Rao made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Rajinder Singh Chib, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-Ur-Rehman.
