JAMMU, Dec 25: Shastri Nagar Tree Talk held 393rd green interaction, which was attended by around 80 participants mostly morning walkers and tree lovers.
In the meeting, the participants focused on sacred tree plantation around available religious places in Jammu city.
Col Arora President Morning Walkers Association said that civil society needs to adopt voluntary restriction on use of vehicles in the morning hours around parks and greenbelts where morning walkers do yoga exercises.
Former CCF Subhash Chander Sharma appealed the participants to reduce individual carbon footprint by adopting less energy intensive green lifestyle and phasing out plastics.
OP Sharma, Director Environment floated the idea of theme based parks namely Edible Tree Park, Medicinal Tree Park, Sacred Tree Park, Threatened Tree Park, Tree Talk Park, Cyawanprash Garden and Aromatic plant garden to spread tree heritage consciousness among youth and tourists.
Prof Yashpal, HoD Botany focused on value added herbal products and appealed tree talk participants to act as motivators for eco-friendly consumerism based on green outlook and age old Indian ethos.
Shashikant Lakhanpal and Prashotam Dubey shared cultural inputs on sacred trees namely Sita Ashok, Parijat, Bael, Arjun, Amla, Palakshi, Peepal, Semal, Shami, Rudraksh, Kadamb and planted Bael, Kachnar and Pilkhan saplings in the Shastri Nagar park.
Santosh Sangda, a renowned stage artist and Dogri story writer felt spellbound to know that Tree Talk has so far achieved a milestone of hosting 393 sessions and outdoor walk and talk is useful activity for morning walkers to inculcate tree consciousness.
Nitish Arora, Radio personality, Anil Kotwal from Bhaderwah and many others shared their vision on sacred tree planting and highlighted medicinal properties of bel juice, arjun shal tea, amla juice, kakoha tea, kachnar raita, sohanjana phali and harad achaar.
Bird watcher Guldev Raj provided an overview of bird diversity seen at Gharana RS Pura and Manda hills of Jammu. He highlighted role of birds in pollination and seed dispersal in forest trees and appealed masses to aware children about Dogri Hindi names of birds we see around.
