Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra

POONCH, Aug 9: On the third day of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, a total 738 pilgrims in 15 buses and three Light Motor Vehicles, left for Poonch from Jammu base camp today morning.
National convener of Bajrang Dal, Neeraj Doneria and Trustee of Baba Amarnath and Budha Amarnath Yatri Niyas, R K Chhibber flagged off the Yatra from base camp at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on Friday morning.
Total 738 pilgrims including 323 from Rajasthan, 161 from Bihar, 40 from Madhya Pradesh. 33 from Gujarat, 33 from Chhatisgarh, four from Jammu, three from West Bengal besides some other places were part of Yatra today. They included 554 males, 168 females and 16 children.
From Dashnami Akhara Poonch, second batch of 547 pilgrims which arrived from Jammu last evening, left for Mandi town in the morning and performed Darshans at the shrine. After performing special prayers they left for Jammu.
The third batch of the 738 pilgrims reached Poonch town at around 5 pm under tight security. They had their breakfast at Sunderbani, lunch at Convoy Ground Rajouri.
It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration Poonch besides Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Poonch, VHP and Bajrang Dal have made impressive arrangements for the comfortable stay and food of the pilgrims at different places in Poonch city.
The police and other security agencies have made elaborate security arrangements for the safe and smooth pilgrimage in the border town of Poonch.
Shri Budha Amarnath Ji shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva at Rajpura village of Mandi in Poonch district is among the oldest shrines in the Jammu region, drawing large numbers of devotees from across the country.
It is said that Pulast Rishi, the grandfather of the King Ravana of Lanka had worshipped at this place for thousands of years. According to locals, the river which flows from Mandi and passes through Poonch City is called Pulast river, also known as Poonch river. It is said that there is mention of Pulast river and Pulast Rishi Ashram in the ancient Hindu religious books.
