3rd day of philatelic exhibition on Gandhiji marks issue of ‘My Stamp’

JAMMU, Oct 3: The third day of Philatelic Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi, organised by the Departmnent of Post, marked the issue of a special cover and ‘My Stamp’ on Mahatma Gandhi, by Member of Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, in the presence of Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle, John Samuel, at an impressive function held at Kala Kendra here.
The function was attended by hundreds of children and renowned personalities.
Speaking on the occasion, MP thanked the Chief Post Master General for organising such a mega event, which promotes Gandhian values amongst the different sections of the society, particularly students. He commended the role of Chief Post Master General in infusing new energy in Department of Posts in J&K.
Samuel while speaking, said that that the exhibition is not merely an event but it reflects commitment of Department of Posts to be associated with society in every possible way. He said that the exhibition is showcasing the life of Gandhiji through stamps.
Reiterating his commitment for the development of postal services in the State at par with international standards, he said that the opening of night post offices, introduction of ‘My Stamp’ and ‘Same Day Speed Post Service’ in the State were a few steps taken by the Department of Posts in this regard. He further announced that the Department would be spreading over two crore rupees for modernization of Post Offices in the State during the current financial year.
