JAMMU, Oct 13: The 124th Raising Day of 3rd Battalion of the Dogra Regiment was celebrated here today.
Brig Prahlad Singh (Retd), 31st Commanding Officer of the battalion graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The present Commanding Officer of the paltan also graced the occasion with his presence.
The program commenced with paying tribute to the martyrs in a solemn ceremony organized by Subedar Major Swaran Kumar Bal (Retd).
Speaking on the occasion, Captain Hari Ram narrated the rich history of the battalion covering the journey of the paltan from its inception in 1900 till date.
The 3rd Dogra Regiment was raised in Jalandhar on 12 October 1900 and boasts a 124 year old history full of valour and courage, with significant contributions in various conflicts including World War I, 1965 war and 1971 war.
The battalion has distinguished privilege of receiving 13 Battle Honours pre independence and 02 Battle Honours post independence. The battalion is also proud recipient of two theatre honours.
Brig Prahlad Singh (Retd) extended warm greetings to all the officers and soldiers of the battalion.
The present Commanding Officer also congratulated all serving and retired officers/JCOs, soldiers and their families on this occasion.
