SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Cracking down on illegal mining in Wagoora and Delina Baramulla, the police seized four tractors and arrested their drivers today.
Authorities stated that the action was initiated under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Kreeri, assisted by IC PP Delina & IC PP Wagoora.
The police reported that the arrested drivers have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Mohammad, resident of Palpora Palhallan; Mohammad Umar Chopan, son of Mohd Sultan, resident of Mirangund; Shabir Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Rasool, resident of Wagoora; and Khurshid Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Nabi, resident of Delina Ghat.
These drivers, along with their vehicles, were found involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police said.
Consequently, cases under relevant Sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Kreeri and PS Baramulla, and investigations have been initiated.
