DODA, July 18: Four persons were arrested for instigating people to protest against the district administration in Changa Bhallesa area here, while two of them have been put under administrative quarantine as they were close contacts of a man, whose report turned positive for COVID-19 pandemic.
As per police sources, some people instigated others and held protest at Changa Bhallesa alleging manipulation in COVID-19 pandemic test reports.
It is pertinent to mention here that a positive case was reported from Changa Bhallesa area of this district during random sampling and when police team reached there to put the man under isolation, some people including close contacts of the positive case gathered on the spot and started raising slogans against the district administration.
The protestors alleged that the district administration is manipulating the test reports of COVID-19 and are harassing the common masses on one pretext or the other.
After getting information, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gandoh Pritam Lal Thapa along with SDPO Gandoh Mohammad Nawaz Khanday reached the spot.
The officials informed the protestors that the man who was tested positive has to be put in isolation centre so as to restrict the spread of the virus in the area.
“The man has tested positive during random sampling and SOPs as prescribed by the Government will have to be followed”, the officials informed the protestors.
As protestors remained adamant and continued protest, additional reinforcement was called, which forced the protesting people to disperse. Mild force was also used to disperse the protestors.
“Police arrested four persons including two close contacts of the positive case for instigating the people to protest against the district administration. The man, whose reported was positive has been sent to isolation centre at Changa, while his two close contacts were sent to administrative quarantine”, SDPO told the EXCELSIOR.
“A case under FIR Number 44/2020 under relevant Sections has been registered against 8 persons at Gandoh Police Station”, SDPO said and asserted that the absconding persons will be arrested soon.
