JAMMU, Jan 16: Residency Road police arrested four gamblers along with Rs 29,500 stake money and playing cards.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Residency Road Police Post conducted raid on the roof top of a hotel in Eidgah Road and apprehended four gamblers along with Rs 29,500 stake money and playing cards. On their personal search, police also recovered Rs 3765 from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan, Abdul Ahad, son of Abdul Aziz, Abdul Majid, son of Mohammad Sultan and Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Khaliq, all residents of district Baramulla.
A case under Section 13 Gambling Act has been registered at City Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Residency Road Police Post SI Sunil Singh Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SHO City Inspector Vishal Sharma, SDPO City Varun Jandial and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
