JAMMU, Aug 11: Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bari Brahmana Police Station led by SHO Inspector Ajit Singh laid a naka under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana Sunil Kesar and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK15-0236.
During checking, police team recovered 400 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Nirmal Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Bari Brahmana Police Station and investigation started
Meanwhile, on reliable information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station laid a naka near Suketar on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02U-1275.
During checking, police team recovered 23.850 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons have been identified as Satnam Singh, son of Gurbaksh Singh and Jagjeet Singh, son of Jaswant Singh, both residents of Nanak Nagar, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 142/2020 under section 8/15/20/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma.
In another case, a team from Digiana Police Post laid a naka and intercepted a scooty. During checking, police team recovered around 3 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the rider, who was identified as Joginder Singh, son of Babu Ram, a resident of Rani Talab Digiana District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 135/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
