4 booked for drug smuggling, anti-national activities

Srinagar, May 17: Police in Baramulla today booked two notorious drug smugglers under the PIT NDPS Act, apart from two others who have been booked under the PSA for anti-national activities.
The two notorious drug smugglers have been identified as Mohammad Afsar Khan, also known as Afsar, son of Mohd Muzaffar Khan, resident of Binner Baramulla, and Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Faqir Mohd Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony Khawajabagh Baramulla.
“They have been booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu,” the police said.
The police informed that many cases are registered against these drug peddlers, and they were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Town Baramulla and other areas of District Baramulla.
Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth, the police said.
Two others who have been booked under the PSA have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Mir Zaman Mir, resident of Dachi, and Syed Khaki Shah, son of Razak Hussain Shah, resident of Madiyan Kamalkote.
“They are involved in anti-national activities and have been detained under the Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. They have subsequently been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.”
The police said that many cases are registered against these persons, and they were involved in anti-national activities. “Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities.”
