4 bovine animals rescued

RAJOURI, June 27: Continuing its drive against menace of bovine smuggling, Rajouri Police has rescued four more bovine animals and arrested two smugglers.
During the last night, one TATA mobile bearing registration number JK11-1732 and on its way towards Rajouri from Kalakote was signaled to stop at Potha Naka. However, driver of the vehicle breached the barrier and tried to flee away. In attempt to stop the vehicle, one Police official on Naka duty was injured. However, Police party led by SHO Kalakote, Inspr Raghubir Sharma chased the said vehicle and captured it at Mandar Gala on Kandi road. The vehicle was found loaded with four bovine animals, which were rescued by the Police. Driver of the vehicle namely Mohd Akram was arrested on spot. An associate of the driver, namely Mustafa, jumped out from the vehicle and got injured. Police shifted him to DH Rajouri for treatment.
The vehicle was seized and a case FIRs under Section 353/332/188 RPC, 3 PCA & 2/3 PDP Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Kalakote.
During the year 2015 in Rajouri, 41 cases of bovine smuggling have been registered against 112 persons and 277 bovine animals were rescued besides seizure of 24 vehicles. The drive is being carried out on war footing basis with the aim to curb the menace of bovine smuggling, said a Police handout.
