*Rs 22.34 lakh looted from ATM

Srinagar, May 31: Militants last night shot at a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) worker and his nephew in Baramulla after they were coming out of local mosque while four cops were injured in a grenade attack in Sopore town.
Militants last night fired upon Abdul Rashid Lone, a PDP worker, when he was coming out from a Masjid after offering prayers in Khanpura area of Baramulla town.
The incident took place at 10:30 pm outside the Khanpura shrine. Lone’s nephew also suffered injuries in the attack. They were shifted to hospital.
Lone had retired after serving the Jammu and Kashmir Electricity department and is a PDP worker.
Senior police and security officers reached the spot but militants fled away after carrying out the attack. This is the first attack on a political worker in North Kashmir this year.
Meanwhile, four policemen were injured as militants hurled a grenade at police station Sopore in North Kashmir this afternoon.
At around 4.20 pm, militants lobbed a grenade at police station Sopore which exploded outside it injuring four police personnel. They were immediately removed to nearby hospital for treatment.

The injured policemen have been identified as Head Constable Noor Mohammad, Head Constable Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Constable Abdul Rehman and Constable Bilal Ahmad. All the injured are undergoing treatment and condition of two of them is stated to be critical.
Soon after the attack, a large contingent of security forces including Special Operations Group (SOG) and Army rushed to the spot and launched manhunt to nab the attackers. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, Unidentified persons have looted Rs. 22.34 lakh from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police official said Rs. 22, 34,500 were looted by unidentified robbers during night hours from State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Achhabal Adda in Anantnag district. The official said that an investigation has been launched into the looting of huge amount from the ATM.
This is for the second time in recent days that such a huge amount has been looted from any ATM. Only last week, unidentified robbers looted Rs. 16 lakh from an ATM at Langate in North Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district.
Meanwhile, security forces have issued list of top commanders of the militants operating in South Kashmir and have evolved a strategy to target them in order to prevent attacks in South Kashmir. These militants are brain behind the attacks and running of militancy in the area.
Topping the list is Abu Hamas, who is divisional commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed. He is resident of Pakistan and is active since since 2016. He has been categorized as A++ militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh.
Abu Dujana alias Hafiz is divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba, South Kashmir. He is resident of Pakistan and is active since December 2014. He is also A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh. He is involved in all attacks on security forces convoys along National Highway for last three years. He is also involved in armed bank robberies and shifting of Pakistani militants from north Kashmir (post-infiltration) to South Kashmir.
Altaf Dar alias Kachroo is Hizbul Mujahideen district commander for Kulgam. He is resident of Hawara village in Kulgam and was recruited in 2006 and is also A++ category militant. He is involved in 2016 attack at KP Road Anantnag in which two policemen were killed in broad day light. He is involved in the killing of Majid Zargar.
Bashir Wani alias Lashkar is Lashkar-e-Toiba district commander for Anantnag. He is resident of Sopshali village in Kokernag area of Anantnag district. He was recruited on October 2, 2015 and is also A++ category militant.
Junaid Mattoo lias Kandroo, is Lashkar-e-Taiba district commander for Kulgam. He is resident of Khudwani in district Kulgam. He was recruited on June 3, 2015 and is A category militant with cash reward of Rs 7.5 lakh on his head. He played pro-active role in organizing stone-pelting protests and anti-India rallies in Kulgam during 2016 agitation. He was also involved in looting of 40 rifles from Damhal Hanji Pora Police Station in July 2016 after Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter.
Mohammad Yasin Itoo alias Mansoor is district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen for Budgam district. He is resident of Chadoora area of Budgam and was recruited on December 6, 2015. He is A category militant with cash reward of Rs 7.5 lakh on his head.
Reyaz Naikoo alias Zubair is district commander Hizbul Mujahideen for Pulwama. He is resident of village Tokun, Awantipora, Pulwama. He was recruited in December 2012 and is A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh.
Saddam Paddar alias Zaid, is Hizbul Mujahideen district commander Shopian. He is resident of Hef Shirmal Shopian and was recruited on September 25, 2015 and is A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh.
Showkat Tak alias Huzaifa is Lashkar-e-Toiba district commander for Pulwama. He is resident of village Panzgam in Awantipora and was recruited October 17, 2011. He is A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh. He is involved in planning attacks on security forces and also maintaining finances for militancy.
Wasim alias Osama is Lashkar-e-Toiba commander for Shopian. He is resident of village Hef Shirmal, in Shopian. He was recruited on March 28, 2014 and is A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh. He was part of Burhan Wani’s group.
Zakir Rashid Bhatt alias Musa, is Hizbul Mujahideen divisional commander, South Kashmir. He is resident of Noorpura, Awantipora. He was recruited in July 2013. He is A++ category militant carrying a cash reward of Rs 12.50 lakh. Zakir has recently disassociated himself from Hizbul Mujahideen. He is involved in IED attack that targeted policemen at Dadsara Tral. He is behind recruiting youth into militancy and providing them arms training locally.
Zeenat-ul-Islam alias Alkama is of Lashkar-e-Toiba. He is resident of village Sugan, Zainapora in Shopian. He was recruited on November 17, 2015. He is a recycled militant and former Al Badr Mujahideen chief. He was involved in an ambush on Army at Chitragam in which three soldiers were killed. He is also behind the stone-pelting incidents in Shopian and also in grenade attacks.
