JAMMU, Oct 23: Four persons, three from Jammu district and one Udhampur, died of COVID-19 and 206 persons tested positive for the virus in Jammu region today—121 of them in Jammu district alone—as 348 patients recovered.
Fifty one persons tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu district during Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT). They include six from Trikuta Nagar, three Dal Gali Kanak Mandi residential area and one each from Nai Basti, Prem Nagar Chowk, BSF Camp Near Nakka, Talab Tillo residential area and PHE Office Bus Stand Jewel. Forty three persons were subjected to testing in the Deputy Commissioner’s office and all of them reported negative.
In rural areas, three positive cases were reported from Akhnoor, two Kot Bhalwal and one each from Bishnah, Dansal and Marh.
Four members of a family from Shahidi Chowk, couple from Sainik Colony and two brothers from Talab Tillo have also tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu district.
An 85-year-old man from Jullaka Mohalla died of COVID-19 at home and was later shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. Another 60-year-old man from Chatha Satwari also succumbed to the virus at his residence. A 72-year-old man from Bakshi Nagar died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu where he was under treatment since October 1 for Coronavirus, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
An 84-year-old man from Supply Morh Udhampur breathed his last in the GMC Jammu. He was co-morbid and positive for pathogen.
With four fatalities today, Jammu region’s Corona toll has gone up to 472, the highest being 246 in Jammu district, 45 Rajouri, 43 Doda, 30 Kathua, 28 Udhampur, 25 Samba, 22 Poonch, 14 Kishtwar, 12 Ramban and seven in Reasi district.
Among 121 Corona positive cases reported from Jammu district, 117 were locals and four travelers.
All 14 COVID cases in Doda, 12 Kishtwar, 10 Rajouri, eight Ramban and five in Reasi district were locals while 11 of 12 positives in Udhampur, six of eight Kathua, six of nine Poonch and six out of seven in Samba district were locals and rest travelers.
Of 348 Corona patients, who recovered from the virus today, 137 belonged to Jammu district, 56 each Poonch and Samba, 37 Rajouri, 28 Kishtwar, 14 Doda, 11 Kathua and nine in Udhampur district. Ramban and Reasi districts didn’t report any recoveries today.
Jammu region now has 36282 Corona cases. Of them, 33229 have recovered from the virus while there were 2581 active positives in the region. There have been 472 casualties.
Meanwhile, 28 new Corona positive cases were today reported from the Union Territory of Ladakh including 18 from Leh and 10 in Kargil district.
The new cases have taken Ladakh’s Corona tally to 5840. There are, however, only 788 active cases as 4984 have recovered from the virus.
Ladakh UT has 68 casualties—30 in Leh and 38 in Kargil district.
