4 die of COVID, 1606 test +ve in J&K

Shops, business establishments remain open
*150 new cases in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Feb 5: Four persons died of COVID-19 and 1606 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today while the Union Territory of Ladakh reported 150 fresh cases.
Two casualties each were reported from Jammu and Kashmir division. Jammu, however, recorded 887 positives and Kashmir 719.
A 58-year-old woman, who was fully vaccinated but co-morbid died of COVID-19 at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today. She hailed from Channi Himmat.
An 86-year-old man, who had no ailments, succumbed to the virus in the Military Hospital Satwari. He was a resident of Arnia in Jammu district.
Two casualties have taken Corona toll in Jammu division to 2302 and Jammu district to 1216.
Among 887 new cases, 307 were reported from Jammu district, 259 in Doda, 94 Samba, 79 Ramban, 46 Udhampur, 26 Kishtwar, 24 each Rajouri and Kathua, 19 Poonch and nine in Reasi district.

As against 887 fresh cases, 1166 persons recovered from the virus bringing down number of active positive cases in Jammu division to 6570.
Meanwhile, shops and other business establishments remained open in most parts of Jammu today defying restrictions on non-essential movement imposed by the Government as people were of the view that COVID cases are constantly on decline and the administration shouldn’t enforce bandh unnecessarily.
“There has been no hospitalizations of COVID cases. The virus is on decline. So, the Government shouldn’t impose any restrictions which are causing losses to the traders and businessmen,” the people said.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 150 new COVID positive cases including 86 in Leh district and 64 in Kargil.
The UT of Ladakh now has 1079 active positive cases—666 in Leh and 413 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 719 fresh cases of COVID-19 while two persons who were infected with the virus died today.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 283,730 including 267,233 recoveries and 2,404 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 20,663 including 14,093 from Kashmir division.
With 5,019 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 420,128 which is 94.30 percent of the total cases.
Those who tested positive include 212 from Srinagar, 113 from Baramulla, 75 from Budgam, 47 from Pulwama, 63 from Kupwara, 86 from Anantnag, 45 from Bandipora, 35 from Ganderbal, 33 from Kulgam and 10 Shopian.
As per official figures, 100,847 cases including 903 deaths and 93,817 recoveries are from Srinagar, 37,265 including 303 deaths and 33,927 recoveries are from Baramulla, 34,346 including 33,323 recoveries and 230 deaths are from Budgam, 18,266 including 17,707 recoveries and 201 deaths are from Pulwama, 21,357 including 172 deaths and 20,488 recoveries are from Kupwara, 22,221 including 20,667 recoveries and 218 deaths are from Anantnag, 13,545 cases including 12,856 and 115 deaths are from Bandipora, 13,481 including 13,054 recoveries and 84 deaths are from Ganderbal, 16,148 including 15,253 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 6,254 including 5,990 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Shopian.
