4 drug peddlers held with narcotics

KATHUA, Sept 5: Police in Kathua District claimed today that they have arrested four drug peddlers from different areas and recovered 8.5 grams of heroin, and 14 grams of Charas-like-narcotics from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that on Monday, a team led by Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO Kathua, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Manjeet Singh apprehended two persons during naka checking.
They were identified as Parul Dev Singh of Ward Number 6, Kathua and Gurvinder Singh Raina of Ward Number 12, Kathua, he said.
“On their search, 6 grams of heroin was recovered. A scooty they were riding has also been seized,” said the police spokesperson.
Police have accordingly booked the accused in case FIR number 381/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Kathua and started further investigation.
In another operation on Monday, the police spokesperson said that a team of Billawar Police Station led by Inspector Jatinder Singh, SHO concerned, under the supervision of SDPO Billawar, Surinder Khadyal, apprehended two suspicious persons during naka checking.
They were identified as Mohammad Shabir and Sandeep Sharma of Banhore, Tehsil Billawar, Kathua.
“On their search, police recovered 2.5 grams of heroin and 14 grams of Charas-like-narcotics,” he said, adding that an auto load carrier they were travelling in has also been seized from the possession of the accused.
The accused have been booked in case FIR number 127/2023 under Sections 8/20/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Billawar and further investigation taken up, he added.
