SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Police in Baramulla today booked 4 notorious drug smugglers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
According to the police, the four accused drug smugglers have been identified as Jaleel Ahmad Shah, son of Nazir Ahmad, resident of Tawheed Colony Kanispora Baramulla; Abdul Majeed Sofi, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Fatehgarh Sheeri; Mohammad Amin Banday, son of Inayat-Ullah, resident of Lari Boniyar; and Mansoor Ahmad Wani, also known as Soriya, son of Gh Mohammad Wani, resident of Kharpora, Kunzar.
“The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal, Jammu,” police said.
The police stated that multiple cases are registered against these drug smugglers, and they were involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth in Kanispora, Fatehgarh, Lari Boniyar, Kharpora Kunzer, and other areas of district Baramulla.
“Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” the police added.
