JAMMU, May 8: Bakshi Nagar police arrested four gamblers and an absconder.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bakshi Nagar police station conducted raid near backside of GMCH and arrested four gamblers along with Rs 2,600 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Vishal, son of Ravi Kumar, Vicky, son of Shadi Lal, Goldy Verma, son of Sanjay Verma and Goutam Verma, son of Sanjay Verma, all residents of Bakshi Nagar.
A case under Gambling Act has been registered at Bakshi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Bakshi Nagar conducted raid in Shanti Nagar area and arrested an absconder, who has been identified as Jyot Swaroop, son of Dhuni Das of Shiv Nagar.
He was wanted in a case registered under FIR Number 32/16 under Section 420, 467, 468, 379 and 34 RPC with Bakshi Nagar police station and was evading his arrest for the past three months.
The accused had duped many other people along with his associate who are still at large.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO West Sugandha Mahajan and Incharge SP City North Romesh Kotwal.
