4 held for circulating counterfeit currency

JAMMU, Apr 3: Talab Tillo Police today nabbed four persons for producing and circulating counterfeit currency.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged in Police Post Talab Tillo by one person that two boys on motorcycles came to his shop and purchased a cigarette packet against a fake note of Rs 500 and on inquiring about the currency note, boys fled away.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 63/2021 under Section 489-B IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation initiated.
A special team was constituted led by in-charge Police Post Inspector Kali Charan, connected the various leads and finally with the help of CCTV footages and other technical aids arrested the two accused namely Sachin Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar of Sari Rakwalan Gho Manhasan and Rohit Sharma, son of Kuldeep Raj of Talab Tillo Jammu.
During sustained questioning, police said that the accused disclosed the names of two other persons involved namely Vipin Pandita, son of late Bansi Lal Pandita of Om Nagar Udhaywala, at present Hazuri Bagh District Jammu and Rajesh Ganjoo, owner of Zodiac Studio at Anand Nagar.
Police have arrested them and on their disclosure fake currency notes amounting Rs 12000, scales, coloured tapes, sheets, computer, scissors, printer and watermark stamps were recovered from their home and shops at Anand Nagar Bohri District Jammu.
Pertinent to mention that the design was made in the laptop of the main accused person namely Vipin Pandita and printouts of notes were made at Zodiac Studio. Vipin Pandita was also working on installing specialized printers to print counterfeit Indian currency on large scale.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
The overall arrest and recovery in the case was made under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma.
