Srinagar, Jan 8: Four residential houses were damaged today due to a fire incident in the Hazratbal area.
According to officials, the fire broke out in one of the houses around noon and upon receiving an SOS, the Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) quickly dispatched teams to control the blaze.
Aqib Hussain, Assistant Director of F&ES, told reporters that fire tenders from different locations were sent to the site to prevent the flames from spreading.
“The fire tenders from Hazratbal and nearby fire stations were dispatched immediately and were successful in controlling the fire,” he said, adding that the cause of the fire is still being determined.
Locals reported that the fire originated in one house and quickly spread to three others, causing significant damage.

Officials stated that two houses, owned by Mehraj Ahmed Shaksaz and Parvez Ahmed Bhat, sustained extensive damage, while two additional houses were partially affected.
Meanwhile, following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, a team from the District Administration visited Hazratbal to provide immediate assistance to the fire-affected families.
Immediate relief, sanctioned by the Deputy Commissioner, was provided to the affected families in the form of blankets, along with Rs 10,000 for each family as interim relief from the District Red Cross Fund.
The District Administration team also expressed sympathy with the affected families for their loss.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned authorities to assess the damages and prepare a comprehensive report to provide structure-wise financial assistance under the SDRF to the affected families.
