JAMMU, Apr 24: Four residential houses today suffered damages due to firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
Official sources here said that Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in which four residential structures situated in close vicinity of the LoC suffered damages.
The cross LoC firing and shelling started early morning at around 1130 hours and continued till 1500 hours.
They said that four houses including three in Bhawani and one in Makri village were damaged, while as one cattle too was killed after a mortar shell landed.
They further added that houses of Kamal Choudhary, Kailash Devi and Satpal, all residents of Bhawani and Yash Pal of Makri suffered damages due to the mortar shelling and firing from automatics weapon.
The official sources also added that one cattle owned by Satpal also died due to splinters in Bhawani area.
Defence spokesperson Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand, said, “At about 1130 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars on the LoC in Nowshera sector.”
Our troops retaliated befittingly, Col Anand added.
Pakistan has been frequently violating ceasefire along the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts during the last fortnight. Pakistan army has been resorting to unprovoked, indiscriminate shelling of defence and civilian facilities near the LoC in these districts.
