RAJOURI, Apr 16: A passenger bus bearing registration number JK02X-6167, en-route from Rajouri to Jammu, met with an accident near Thandapani on Wednesday. The vehicle was carrying 22 passengers at the time of the mishap.
Immediately after receiving information about the incident, Dr Meena Kumari, Block Medical Officer of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani, acted swiftly and dispatched an ambulance team to the accident site. The rescue operation was carried out efficiently in close coordination with the Police team from Police Station Sunderbani.
Following the rescue, four injured passengers were brought to SDH Sunderbani for preliminary medical aid. Among them, one individual with relatively serious injuries was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment.
The injured passengers were identified as Bandana Devi (37), wife of Chetan, resident of Talab Tillo; Ajeet Singh (52), son of Bihari Singh, resident of Paloura, Jammu; Arshad Hussain (50), son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Surankote; and Wajaid Hussain (20), son of Arshad Hussain, also from Surankote, who was referred to GMC Jammu.
A Traffic Police official at Sunderbani, Manzoor Kohli said that local police have registered a case under FIR No. 22/2025, U/S 235/125 IPC, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of accident.
