4 killed, 9 injured in domestic gas explosion in Central Russia

MOSCOW, Oct 19: Four people have been killed and nine others injured in a gas explosion that occurred in a residential building in the city of Kirsanov in Russia’s Tambov Region, the local administration told Sputnik today.
“Nine people were injured in the emergency, with two of them taken to the regional hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning and burns to their upper respiratory tracts. All the victims are in stable and satisfactory condition and are under the supervision of doctors,” the authorities said.
The bodies of the four dead people were found while the rescue teams were clearing the debris, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.
The explosion occurred on Saturday morning in an apartment building in Kirsanov. As many as 34 firefighters and 18 equipment units were deployed on the site of the incident, the ministry said. The fire was localized at the area of 150 square meters (1,614 square feet), according to the statement. (UNI)
