4 killed in accidents

JAMMU, Oct 13: Four persons were killed and two others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents at Ramban and Greater Kailash area.
Police spokesman said that a truck carrying mustard oil to Kashmir valley plunged into River Chenab at Seri under the jurisdiction of Ramban Police Station early this morning.
The ill-fated truck bearing registration number JK02A-8821 was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar when it met with accident reportedly due to the negligence of the driver. On getting information about the accident, a police party from Ramban Police Station swung into action and started rescue operation by pressing cranes and local divers into service.
However, the day-long efforts failed to yield any result and both the occupants of the truck remained untraced when the rescue operation was called off.
Meanwhile, two persons were killed while two others sustained injuries in a road accident at Greater Kailash area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gangyal Police Station.
Police spokesman said that three persons riding on a motorcycle bearing registration number JMU-AA-2566 hit a pedestrian near Vishal Mega Mart, falling under the jurisdiction of Gangyal Police Station.
In the accident, two youth riding on a motorcycle namely Dheeraj Kumar, son of Mohan Lal and Deepak Choudhary, son of Ram Krishan, both residents of Vijaypur, died on spot, while another namely Munna, a resident of Vijaypur and pedestrian Babu Chander, son of Shiv Bhojan of Bihar, at present, Greater Kailash, sustained injuries.
All were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital where condition of Munna was stated to be critical, when last reports came in.
A case has been registered at Greater Kailash Police Post in this regard.
