4 killed in Nepal blast, border sealed KATHMANDU, Apr 30: A powerful bomb stuck to a motorbike went off in a crowded market in southern Nepal today, killing at least four people, including a woman, and wounding 31 others and prompting authorities to seal the Indo-Nepal border. The blast at Ramananda Chowk of Janakpur Municipality in Dhanusha district close to the Indian border of Sitamadhi occurred while a group of Madhesi activists were staging a sit-in demanding a separate Mithila state in the new Constitution. Three people including a woman were killed on the spot while another man succumbed to death while undergoing treatment, police said. Fourteen of the victims were critically injured and have been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. A lesser known group called Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha has claimed the responsibility for the blast. A huge crowd has thronged the blast site and the explosion has left the public panic-stricken. The site of the blast has been cordoned off and a hunt was launched to identify those involved in the blast. The blast comes at a time when political parties in the country are busy in holding negotiations to decide contentious issues to draft the new Constitution. The Nepal-India border to the south has been sealed off following the blast, the Republica.Com reported. (PTI)
