SRINAGAR, June 10: Security forces today arrested four Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and an associate in Kashmir and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said that Baramulla Police and Army arrested two militants of LeT. They have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Mir, 23, son of Abdul Rehman Mir of Nehalpora, Pattan and Zahid Bashir, 18, son of Bashir Ahmad of Nehalpora, Pattan in district Baramulla.
He said that two Chinese pistols with 18 live rounds and two magazines were recovered from their possession.
In the meantime, security forces today arrested Lashkar-e-Toiba militant along with associate in Budgam district.
A Police spokesman said that acting on specific information, Police along with 62RR and 43Bn CRPF arrested one hybrid militant and a militant associate of outfit LeT.
The arrested hybrid militant has been identified as Mudabir Ajaz son of Ajaz Ahmed Rather, resident of Gulshanabad Hyderpora and the militant associate has been identified as Syed Muntaha Mehraj son of Syed Mehrajudin resident of New Colony Ompora, Budgam.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested duo was involved in providing transportation and logistic support to the LeT militants besides, transportation of arms and ammunition across district Budgam.
“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one Chinese grenade and 35 AK rounds have been recovered from their possession,” he said.
Police have registered a case (FIR No. 190/2022 under relevant Sections of law) at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
