4 militants killed by Army in Handwara

SRINAGAR : Four heavily-armed militants were killed in a three-day counter-infiltration operation launched by Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Handwara area of north Kashmir, an Army official said today.
“Four militants have been killed along the LoC in Hafruda forest area in the operation which was launched on Tuesday,” the Army official said.
Two Army soldiers were also injured in the operation, he said, adding that further details are awaited.
A group of heavily armed militants tried to sneak into Kashmir Valley from across the border in the wee hours of Tuesday, but were thwarted by the alert troops, he said.
With this, the number of militants killed in counter- infiltration operations along the LoC in Kupwara district has risen to nine in the past four days.
Four infiltrating militants were killed in Macchil Sector on Tuesday, while an ultra was shot dead in Keran sector of Kupwara district on Monday.
