DODA, Mar 1: Four members of family including a seven-month-old child were charred to death in a mysterious fire in Dalyuon Gadan, Tehsil Bhagwah.
As per police sources, a fire broke out under mysterious circumstances in the house of Abdul Rashid (56), son of Rusla Bhat at Dalyuon Gadan area in tehsil Bhagwah around 2 am during the intervening night of February 29 and March 1.
In the incident, four members of a family including Abdul Rashid, his wife Fatta Begum (54), Mubina Begum, wife of Nisar Ahmed and a seven-months-old girl child were charred to death.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and fire fighters were pressed into service to douse the flames. Locals also assisted in extinguishing the flames.
Deputy Commissioner Bhupinder Kumar along with Senior Superintendent of Police Z N Manhas, Tehsildar Nasir Ali, Tehsildar Bhagwah Mohit Gupta and other officers of District Administration rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue and relief operations.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to hospital, where after conducting autopsy, the bodies were handed over to family members.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Doda and investigation started to ascertain the cause of the fire.
An amount of Rs 10,000, tent, blankets, kitchen kit, ration, buckets and other necessary items were distributed as an immediate relief to the next of kin of deceased members.
District Administration has expressed extreme grief and solidarity with the family of deceased and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. DC further assured that all possible help and relief will be provided to the family of those who lost their life and property in this incident.
Meanwhile, MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar also visited the spot and expressed grief on such unfortunate incident. While expressing solidarity with the family of deceased for this irreparable loss, he prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls.
He also announced Rs 1 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the construction of the house, which turned into ashes in the devastating fire. He also assured all possible help and relief to the family of deceased persons.
