SRINAGAR, Sept 12: Four members of a nomad family died while another is missing in a cloudburst that hit the Kafarnar Bahak area of Rafiabad in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night.
The calamity struck the hilly area and hit a Bakerwal family of one Haji Bashir Bakerwal of Rajouri.

Bodies of four members of a family were found and at least one member is still missing.
A police party headed by local SHO rushed to the spot along with members of SDRF and four bodies have been found.
They have been identified as Shahnaza Begum, 30, wife of Mohammad Farooq Khari, daughter Nazia Akhtar, 14, son Arif Hussain, 5, and Tariq Ahmad Khari, 8, all residents of Nowshera Rajouri. At least one more member of the family is still missing.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar accompanied by SP Sopore, SDPO Rafiabad and other concerned officials today visited to the upper reaches of Rafiabad area. The DC took the first hand appraisal of the situation that has emerged due to a cloudburst that took place last night.
Meanwhile, a bridge at Chanam village in Dangiwacha was also damaged by the heavy flood water.
Police in Kulgam rescued a nomadic family along with their livestock who were stuck in between the nallah Yath Yathur today.
A police spokesman said this morning at around 6 am, Kulgam Police received information that some nomads along with their livestock were stuck in between the nallah Yath Yathur due to abrupt increase in water level following continuous rainfall during last night.
The spokesman said that acting swiftly, Police party from Police Post Mirbazar along with SDRF team under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund launched a rescue operation in the said area.
“During the rescue operation, a nomadic family consisting of five members along with their livestock including 200 sheep and their essential commodities were shifted to the safer place”, the spokesman said.
Locals have lauded the efforts and swift action of police for rescue and saving precious lives.
